Toy Car Care loves providing quality service for families who like to go places in their vehicles. Have a big family? Check out this 2017 Toyota Sienna Review to take your family travels in a whole different direction! The Toyota Sienna has so much to offer, and we think you are going to LOVE what you see and feel! Take a drive today and see what this vehicle is all about.

The Toyota Sienna is one of the oldest of minivans that Toyota has made, but don’t rule out its competitive edge by any means. The 2017 version has kept things mostly the same except for an upgraded V-6 engine and a new 8-speed transmission, which really amped up its power and driving abilities. Let’s face it, family transportation doesn’t get any easier than this, and it’s still hard to beat a minivan for loading the kids, family dog, and all the camping or sports equipment you might need.

Sliding side doors means practically any sized object will fit into its space, think of it as a little mini storage of sorts, and hopefully, your friends won’t abuse you when they need help moving! You also get a low step-in height and superior passenger and cargo space which is a great alternative to most large SUVs. The last fully redesigned model was in 2010, but the Toyota Sienna still holds the title of top choice in its class among drivers. When you have seating for eight and exclusive all-wheel drive, a well maintained Sienna is hard to beat.

In 2015, the Toyota Sienna got quite a makeover, improving the interior layout and the quality of materials and fabrics in every aspect. Controls and the touchscreen technology interface were placed a little closer to the driver for ease and comfort, and the upholstery and trim finally gave the worth the price warranted. For 2017 you can expect improved mileage and engine performance as well.

So, what does all this mean when you hit the road? The Toyota Sienna comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that has been upgraded for 2017 and gives you a whopping 296 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. The eight-speed automatic transmission replaces the previous six-speed, and front-wheel drive is standard on all models; the LE, XLE and Limited models offer the option of all-wheel drive. These upgrades improved EPA fuel economy estimates all around. Front-wheel-drive Sienna models are rated at 22 mpg combined (19 city/27 highway), and all-wheel-drive models are rated at 20 mpg combined (18 city/24 highway).

Let’s talk about safety:

  • Antilock disc brakes
  • Stability and traction control
  • Front-seat side airbags
  • Full-length side curtain airbags
  • Driver-side knee airbag
  • Front-passenger seat cushion airbag
  • Active front head restraints
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rearview camera
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Front and rear parking sensors available

In a recent test, the Sienna Limited stopped from 60 mph in 126 feet, and in government crash tests, the 2017 Toyota Sienna received a 5-star rating for overall performance, 4 stars for total front-crash protection and 5 stars for total side-crash protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety honored the Sienna with a top score of Good for its performance in the moderate-overlap front-impact, side-impact, roof strength and head restraint tests. It also received the second-highest rating of Acceptable in the IIHS test for small overlap front-impact protection. Not too bad for a minivan.

Interior:

  • High-quality fabric upholstery in basic models
  • Leather and simulated wood accents in the upper models
  • Modern and attractive dash
  • Comfortable plush seats
  • Lots of storage
  • Easy to use controls
  • Smartphone services
  • Built in navigation services
  • Rear seat entertainment center
  • 40/20/20-split second-row bench with a sliding center section that slides forward

So, take one for a drive…. you will surely be impressed with the added power to the V-6, and the extended fuel mileage, taking you even further than before. You will find all trim levels offer competent handling and firmer suspension, providing more confidence around turns and greater control over big bumps without giving up too much comfort while driving. The heavier steering is also more natural than the other trim levels you may be used to.

“Swagger Wagon”…believe it or not, the Toyota Sienna got this funky name because apparently “minivan” was an uncool name! This happened in 2015, and the van even had its own music video with popular hip hop rapper Busta Rhymes song playing in the background and the family dancing to his tunes and rapping along with it. Fast forward to 2017, and the swagger wagon continues to live up to its reputation as delivering so much more than a minivan.

With a 6.3 rating, out of 10 on average, this van has versatility, comfort, and space and you can get all that starting at just $29,750. It comes in a large variety of colors to choose from such as midnight black, crime brûlée, predawn gray mica, salsa red pearl, shoreline blue pearl, silver sky metallic, and sky-blue pearl. You are surely going to turn heads with these great color options.

Some people have described this minivan as anything but mini, more like a studio apartment on wheels! When you become accustomed to the spaciousness and ease of driving, not to mention comfort, if will be rather difficult to squish the family into anything else. Not only is it perfect for long trips, hauling stuff or getting pretty good gas mileage, it also is reasonably priced.

Comparing other vehicles in the same category, this Toyota Sienna wins hands down. But don’t take just any word, do some comparisons yourself to understand the difference. As mentioned above, a great place to start is with the Honda Odyssey and Kia Sedona. You will first off see the difference in cargo space and leg room in both models, you just can’t beat the extra space this vehicle has to offer, and dollar for dollar, we are sure you will see that the Toyota Sienna wins by a landslide.
